Social Bookmarking Explained
Tired of searching the engines and getting the same old, same old? There's a new way and it's called social bookmarking! Here's the scoop.
While surfing the web using a conventional search engine, users like yourself have to sift thru junk sites till they come across the information they are after. Wouldn't it be nice if once a web surfer found a really good website they could easily mark it? So that others looking for the same information didn't have to sort thru the same irrelevent websites and the surfer could also bookmark it and easily return to the site later, for additional information? Well, it is nice and it's here, it's hot and getting hotter!
The first thing you want to do is check out my del.ici.ous page at http://del.icio.us/flowski and click a few of my bookmarks so you know exactly what we are talking about here. Now, When you join a social bookmarking system you store a list of webpages you find helpful (like this one) on your own webpage at the social bookmarking website. At the time you save an interesting page you can choose to keep the save private or public. If you select the private save option for a particular page, no one will see it but you. If you select the public page option, that particular bookmark will be shared with everyone in that social bookmarking system. Users in that system will be able to find your bookmarked page by searching categories tag's (keyword's) that you labeled it with when you bookmarked it or they can find it just by random surfing. There are advantages to this type of a system, all of the social bookmarking search results on a topic will yield pages that have been reviewed for content by a human that understands the webpages content and not by a search engine spider that attempts to use an algebra formula called an algorithm to figure out the topic!
If other users find your choice of topics is very similar to their particular intrests they can subscribe to the RSS feed of everything you bookmark and tag and whenever you save a page they will get a live update at their My Yahoo or social bookmarking page.

Think of each of your subscribers as a link to your social bookmarking page, The more links (subscribers) you get, the higher your page rank will be and the more valuable the link to your gallery or main photo site from your bookmarking page will become, thereby transfering better page rank to your main site and increasing your site's traffic!
